A match that came down to the wire when Howard lost to Duncan at the very end. This was bad planning by me as Howard ‘always’ beats Duncan with white and vice versa! Lee and Lawrence drew first and Louis was the exchange down and struggling against David who solidly ground out his win. Mike and Ben were dead even when they agreed a draw. Alan had been level when John allowed his queen to be skewered against a rook by a bishop, following a distraction. John’s queen and knight mating attack eventually fizzled out and John resigned. Sam looked lost as Jim appeared to have him on toast but Sam had a perpetual up his sleeve and got the draw.
