Another top of the table clash and once again Horfield narrowly missed out. Prakash was outplayed by a very strong junior on board 5 and could not recover from going a Knight to Rook down early on.
Mike brought the scores level after opening up his opponents King and completing the win. Howard stepped in late and a draw was agreed in what looked like a very even contest. Matias played another solid game and came up with a win that took Horfield into a one game lead.
However, Nigel who had been defending for most of the game, under time trouble missed the opportunity to get a possible draw and the match was even. After a promising start where Bob has scarified a pawn for a positional advantage, his opponent maintained the material going into the end game and with time running out Bob was unable to prevent the advancing pawns and the match was over with Clevedon winning 3.5-2.5.
