Three matches on Tuesday this week
The B team had a really tough night against fellow promotion chasers South Bristol. Mike got caught in traffic putting us 1-0 down. Andy let his advantages slip away with an exchange of queens and then a blunder against Freddie. Brent (in a tragi-comedy way) fell for the same pin twice in his game against George and Mike on his return lost to Shane. Draws for Rob and John were sort of high points. Maybe no bounce-back promotion then.

Also at home were the D team who were more successful with a win over Downend F to maintain second in the league. A rare as hen’s teeth loss on top board for Duncan but good wins for Piotr, Joe, and win-machine Graham along with Scott’s draw secured the win. Poor Mike’s struggles continued but good news he was unbeaten at the Wells congress at the weekend. Match card.
Finally the F team were away at North Bristol. Ryan and Ash secured draws on the top two boards. Martin missed a knight fork and then was mated in the middle of the board. Siobhan won her match to level the match. After avoiding a repetition and then some crazy extra queen then losing extra queen then getting another one (which is quite greedy) Siobhan forced Matt to resign. Match card
