Two home matches this week. Two defeats. It was, to be honest, a struggle to find 12 available players this week. As it turned out Piotr, one of our dirty dozen, lost his exhaust on the way to the club leaving us with eleven. Fortunately Kristian was brave enough to step up to fill the empty seat for the B team.
A clearly weakened B team battled but came up short against South Bristol. A good win for Joe on board 5 against David was the highlight. Kristian got caught out by a sharp opening from Jon but did himself a lot of credit. Match card here.
The D team didn’t fair much better. Outgraded on every board we did well to win a couple of the games. Jason got off the mark with a win against Jason and Graham overcame Barry on board one. Graham delivered mate with 20 seconds left after a discovered check after finally activating his white bishop that had sat patiently on c8 waiting for its moment of glory. Match card here.
